Extended Basic Skills
Preparation for technical diving
The Extended Basic Skills course serves as preparation for technical diving and advanced training. The program comprises theory (gas planning, decompression, backup planning), problem solving and team diving, stage cylinder handling workshop, and deep dive training. Extensive theory and dive training distinguish SwedTech from other organizations.
Duration
Min 10 hours practical water training, 10 hours theory and briefings
Prerequisites
Minimum age 18, SwedTech Scuba Diver certification (or equivalent), proof of at least 50 logged dives, excellent health status
Learning Objectives
- Configure technical diving equipment per SwedTech standards
- Handle stage cylinders with bottom gas
- Plan dives using Nitrox as bottom mix and for decompression
- Work with helium-based mixes to reduce narcotic depth
- Understand overhead diving environments and decompression ceilings
- Troubleshoot technical equipment problems
- Manage gas loss scenarios
- Master advanced swimming techniques
- Demonstrate excellent buoyancy control
- Execute coordinated team diving
Course Limits & Requirements
- Maximum depth (dives 2-3): 30 meters
- Maximum depth (dive 4): 40 meters
- Maximum PO2: 1.4 bar
- Maximum END: 30 meters
- No physical overhead diving
- Maximum 3 students per instructor
